Astra

Astra is an adult upper voices community choir led by Nelle Callanan and Adam Johnson. The choir focuses on a sense of community, belonging, and inclusivity while making music together, and brings a social justice lens to music programming and collaborative partnerships.

Astra offers an alternative rehearsal schedule to increase accessibility to choristers who might find weekly evening rehearsals unmanageable. The ensemble meets twice a month - one Wednesday evening and one Saturday daytime rehearsal per month. Previous choral experience and/or the ability to read musical notation is an asset, but Astra is open to all interested singers and the artistic leadership team is supportive of growth and learning across the ensemble.

Astra performs two to three times per season in a mix between collaborative performances with other Choirs for Change ensembles, standalone concerts, and appearances at community events. Membership ranges between 40-60 members, and Astra is currently welcoming new choristers . For more information on joining Astra, click here.
